I am an art teacher (for 24 years)! I love what I do, but my dream is to bring joy to others through my own art. I have always drawn animals (over 30 years now, gulp!), and have done many pet portraits. I started using pastels in High School, switched to colored pencils 15 years ago. I contracted Lyme disease and my achey joints couldn't deal with the pressure of colored pencils any longer. I went back to pastels, my first love, about 5 years ago. I discovered this amazing paper (pastelmat) that helped me take my art to another level. I could achieve so many layers of fur now, and insane detail.

It is a truly frightening thing putting my art out there, but something I need to do. Each one of my paintings takes anywhere from 10-30 hours depending on it's size, and loads of blood, sweat, and tears! I use the best high end paper and pastels, because my father taught me, "you get what you pay for". Pastels have always been a joy for me to work with, but now it all seems to come easier.

I am a perfectionist by nature, both a blessing and a curse! I will get an idea for a new painting, look for reference pictures to help me with how I'm going to bring my idea to life, then I go for it. The start of each painting is the hardest part for the perfectionist in me. I always think it looks like garbage until I'm about 3/4 done, then I start to like it. I know I'm not done until it makes me smile and jump stupidly around the room with happiness.

The hardest part about selling artwork on line is not getting to meet you, and you me. I only hope my paintings bring a smile to your face and send a little joy your way! I sincerely thank you for taking the time to read this and view my artwork!
